He stopped before a towering tree, its bark gnarled and moss-covered. XXX He chuckled, a sound that was both warm and foreign, his breath hot against my neck. He offered it to me with a gentle nod, and I took it. With renewed hope, I pushed forward and soon came across the river. I guessed that in his world, bodily fluids were a part of life, not something to be shied away from. I paused, my eyes scanning the horizon for any sign of civilization, but all I saw was the river and an unbroken sea of green that surrounded me. I would guess he was older than me, between 30 and 40 but its hard for me to tell.
